AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker
I bought this to replace a one cup coffee maker that I used to use at work. At first, it seemed like a bit much - I was used to: dump coffee into filter basket, pour water straight from water cooler into reservoir, hit switch, drink coffee. I had been experimenting with letting the water come to room temp or giving it a short blast in the microwave since it never had time to come to a sufficient temp during the one to two minute brew/drip cycle.

So I was apprehensive about: put filter on cannister, add coffee to cannister, preheat water, put small amount of water on top of coffee, stir, insert plunger and press, add more heated water to cup (for regular coffee as oppsed to espresso), but after doing it just a couple of times I got into a routine that doesn't seem arduous at all.

And the results! The coffee that comes out of this thing is what has led me down the "grind your own/roast your own" path I've been on for a few years now. I've been seeking a combination that would allow me to consistently make that elusive cup of coffee, that I only stumbled across occasionally, that gets my attention and makes me consciously stop and think "this is good!" And once I experimented for a week or so with how long to microwave the water, this device has come through with flying colors!

Since I'm the only coffee drinker at home, I'm seriously considering buying another one, and putting the drip coffee maker on the shelf!

Braun KF590 Impressions Digital 10-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Braun KF590 Impressions Digital 10-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker
This is a great coffee maker for the price. It is nice to have the built in gold filter that can be washed and reused. Other reviews have complained that the coffee brews too fast, but that is one of the benefits! I'm glad I selected this coffeemaker.

Great coffee maker. I love the caraffe. Pours without spilling.
Easy to use. The only thing I don't like is after about 15 minutes
of running it makes a "ticking" noise. That drives me nuts, but
other than that, this unit is PERFECT.

Keurig B60 Special Edition Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Keurig B60 Special Edition Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System
The B50 does a great job, and the k-cups from Amazon have served well. If I had it to do over I would consider the B50 - less expensive, no chrome, and just missing a cup size I don't use. I haven't used the reusable filter - but it is there if needed.

It has been great to wake up at 4:30 AM with an idea, and instantly have coffee at my computer with no fuss. No interruptions to the thought process.

Factory Reconditioned Cuisinart DGB-500BKFR Grind & Brew 12 Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Black kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Factory Reconditioned Cuisinart DGB-500BKFR Grind & Brew 12 Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Black
I've been using this coffee maker for almost a month and like it a lot. The grinder is very loud, but it seems to do a good job and I like the convenience of having a two-job appliance. The grinder is very somewhat difficult to clean, but I finally hit upon using a soft cosmetic brush (the type used for blush or powder) to get in the corners and it works great with a small amount of soapy water. I didn't like the way the grinder looked after being in the dishwasher, so don't put it there anymore. The unit is quite tall, so it will probably not fit on a counter if it has to sit under a top cabinet, which is not an issue in my kitchen. It's a great value for the price and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

kitchen appliance reviews Keurig B40 Elite Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System
I love this product! Great cup of coffee everytime and it is hot. I bought the cartridge that allows me to use my own coffee as well if I run out of packets. Its a little big for my counter but now they have a smaller model (they did not have this when I bought mine) wish I had waited but this product does exactly what it is advertised to do and looks good doing it.

Braun Tassimo TA 1400 Hot Beverage System kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Braun Tassimo TA 1400 Hot Beverage System
First off, I love the Tassimo system. Very easy to use and a broad range of choices as far as beverages. I just wish they gave you a true sampler pack, as there are a lot of different vendors and flavors within a brand.

I purchased a bunch of different discs and like the Gevalia Latte and Chai Latte. I would match the Chai Latte with anything out on the market, including Starbucks. Put some whipping creme on top, wonderful.

Ok, with that being said, get the BOSCH system from Tassimo, not this one. The BOSCH system is much quieter, much cleaner, not as messy and a lot easier to use. The BOSCH has a little handle on the water container and the lid doesn't fall into the container as easily. It also isn't as finicky as when you put the disc in and how long it takes to heat the water. Finally, the Bosch system is cleaner, as in it doesn't leak where the disc rests as does the Braun.

Did I mention get the Bosch and not this one?

The Bosch Tassimo system drink height adjustment is much better, too. The controls are easier to understand and use.

If I hadn't bought the second Bosch for my office, I would have been moderately happy with the Braun system. It brews a nice hot cup of coffee and/or tea. The flavor of the coffee and teas are quite good.

BRAUN PROS: Easy to use, like the filter, makes a nice hot cup of coffee.

BRAUN NEGATIVES: Lid on water container could be better, this one tends to easily slip into the container. Its kind of loud, Bosch is much quieter. The cup adjustment isn't very good, but you can remove it for taller cups. The button for heating and 'auto' mode is finicky. I've had to unplug it a couple of times so it resets properly. Probably my fault as I should read the instructios--but not a problem with the Bosch.

Comment: You really should try the different coffees and teas as they are different. I like Caribou Coffee, and thus a milder african blend. Gevalia is very good as well as the tea. The Maxwell house has more of a bite to it. My wife likes strong coffee and enjoyed the Seattle's Best.

As others have mentioned, the hot chocolate is like the cheap stuff you get at a highschool football game made with hot water. You can improve upon it by using a 'latte' or 'capuccino' disc. My kids, five year old daughter and nine year old son LOVE the hot chocolate. So, since its for them, I can't really complain. I only tasted it. You can also improve upon the hot chocolate by getting the whipping creme in a can and spraying a healthy layer on top. Actually, what wouldn't taste better with a lot of whipping creme on top. Anyway, hot chocolate is a huge success with the kids, but not me. I love the hot chai tea--did I mention that?

Finally, if you can, splurge on the cups and lids from Tassimo. Part of the coffee enjoyment is holding a warm cup of coffee in your hands--its tactile, too. So if you usually drink coffee from a coffee shop, you can simulate the feel of the cup by buying the cups and special lids from Tassimo. I found that this does help add to the feeling of enjoying a good cup of coffee. Also, if you're using a porcelain or other type of normal cup, its usually cool and will cool the coffee down as its poured into the cup--just something to think about.

So, thumbs up on the Tassimo system, just get the Bosch and not the Braun--hopefully I've made my point.

Black & Decker DCM7 Cup-At-A-Time Coffeemaker, White kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Black & Decker DCM7 Cup-At-A-Time Coffeemaker, White
I work alone in a small school library. Currently, I am going through the entire collection, getting rid of old, unread books, then processing the keepers for automation. It is a tedious process. After lunch every day I literally fall asleep. Something had to be done!! I needed coffee!!

I began looking for a 4-cup coffeemaker to buy and take to school (thinking that's as small as a unit comes). Then I spotted the one-cup-at-a-time units! I like Black & Decker products and I prefer white appliances, so this Cup-at-a-Time Coffeemaker caught my attention at once. In addition, I always read reviews for product evaluation. This one ranked high.

It's at school now, near my computer, and in its little work area containing two mugs, spoon, creamer, sugar. It's a delightful little machine, designed to please just one person at a time. And it does.

(Note: Just one detraction: A mug does not pour well. At first, I found it difficult to pour water into the well without spilling any. Solved that problem by buying a plastic measuring cup with a spout. No spills now!)
