Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug
I've been using mine daily for about a month now. Works flawlessly. It took a couple of tries to figure out the right amount of coffee to add to suit my taste, but after that it's been simple. Add the coffee, fill the mug to within a half-inch of the rim, and pour that into the coffee maker. Then I set the open mug in place and go to bed. In the morning, just before I get ready to leave the house, I turn it on. Less than 2 minutes later the coffee is done. I put the lid on and go. My only nitpick is with the handle on the mug. It's really not needed and makes it a bit of a pain to use both cupholders in the center console of my car. But that is indeed a minor issue. Otherwise I'm very pleased with this coffee maker.

Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker
There are lots of reviews for this coffee maker, which include all the pros and cons. However, the bottom line, so as not to repeat, is that this is an excellent coffeemaker and has some pretty nifty features like a charcoal water filter and a "self-clean" cycle.

If the one I have wears out, I will buy another!

Easy to use and easy to clean. We grind our fresh beans and pour the ground coffee in the filter, press start and next thing you know, you have great coffee. We highly recommend this coffee maker.

Great coffee maker, very easy. The coffee is a bit weak, but we're working on it. Make sure you buy strong coffee for it.

Factory Reconditioned Cuisinart DGB-500BKFR Grind & Brew 12 Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Black kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Factory Reconditioned Cuisinart DGB-500BKFR Grind & Brew 12 Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Black
I've been using this coffee maker for almost a month and like it a lot. The grinder is very loud, but it seems to do a good job and I like the convenience of having a two-job appliance. The grinder is very somewhat difficult to clean, but I finally hit upon using a soft cosmetic brush (the type used for blush or powder) to get in the corners and it works great with a small amount of soapy water. I didn't like the way the grinder looked after being in the dishwasher, so don't put it there anymore. The unit is quite tall, so it will probably not fit on a counter if it has to sit under a top cabinet, which is not an issue in my kitchen. It's a great value for the price and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Black & Decker DCM7 Cup-At-A-Time Coffeemaker, White kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Black & Decker DCM7 Cup-At-A-Time Coffeemaker, White
I work alone in a small school library. Currently, I am going through the entire collection, getting rid of old, unread books, then processing the keepers for automation. It is a tedious process. After lunch every day I literally fall asleep. Something had to be done!! I needed coffee!!

I began looking for a 4-cup coffeemaker to buy and take to school (thinking that's as small as a unit comes). Then I spotted the one-cup-at-a-time units! I like Black & Decker products and I prefer white appliances, so this Cup-at-a-Time Coffeemaker caught my attention at once. In addition, I always read reviews for product evaluation. This one ranked high.

It's at school now, near my computer, and in its little work area containing two mugs, spoon, creamer, sugar. It's a delightful little machine, designed to please just one person at a time. And it does.

(Note: Just one detraction: A mug does not pour well. At first, I found it difficult to pour water into the well without spilling any. Solved that problem by buying a plastic measuring cup with a spout. No spills now!)

Braun KF600 Impressions 10-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless Steel kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Braun KF600 Impressions 10-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless Steel
I owned the old version of this same brand and model which served me well for 15+ years. After reading bad reviews of other brands on this site I thought I'd stick with what works. I like this unit because it doesn't have any useless features like flavor settings, timers, clocks, etc. It just does what it is supposed to do. It is well made of decent materials and delivers a good pot of hot coffee. My one complaint is that the carafe doesn't keep the coffee as hot as my old one. This one has a metal interior, the old one was silvered glass. The metal may be more rugged but even with preheating it only keeps the coffee hot for a few hours at best. Unlike some other brands reviewed, I've had no problems with spilling, leaking, or other nasty operation. The lid is well designed and is very easy to pour (better than the old one). Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

Cuisinart DCC-450 4-Cup Coffeemakers with Stainless-Steel Carafe kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Cuisinart DCC-450 4-Cup Coffeemakers with Stainless-Steel Carafe
If you are over 50 or have arthritis, you will not be able to use this coffee maker. Others of you will find it physically inconvenient.

The top of the carafe has no hinge. The top of the carafe snaps on and off, and it's extremely difficult to snap. With painful hands, you will not be able to snap it. Likewise, the top of the coffeemaker has no hinge. In order to put in your coffee and water, again you have to snap the top on and off. There are no adequate grips, and it's just impossible for weak hands.

Another serious defect with this product design is that the aluminum carafe has no window, so you have no idea how much coffee is in it.

This product is absolutely not acceptable. Forget it and find a coffee maker that's ergonomically designed and designed for disabled users.

Senseo HD7810/75 Single Serve Coffee Machine kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Senseo HD7810/75 Single Serve Coffee Machine
I love my senseo - but I also like the convenience of using whatever coffee I want in it.
Since I don't like ordering coffee online and paying shipping, I was reduced to figuring out how to make my own pods.

All you have to do is buy regular sized (4 cup) filters, and cut them down with scissors until their circumference is 5 and a half inches across. You can cut about 10 at a time. Once that is done, press one into the pod holder. You choose how much strength you want: Have your favorite coffee ground to your choice of fineness. (This will vary depending on how strong you like your coffee. Me: I like it strong so I use a superfine grind and the double pod holder) Pack the coffee with something flat and fold over the filter with your hands. Don't worry, you won't have coffee bits in your coffee because they can't really flow through the pod holder anyways. Turn it on- You'll have great coffee with a creamy top in a few seconds.

Black & Decker DCM18 Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker kitchen appliance reviews

kitchen appliance reviews Black & Decker DCM18 Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker
The coffeemaker makes a decent, if not great, cup of coffee, and it is pretty convenient in brewing just the amount of coffee I plan on drinking. My main complaint is with the permanent filter that comes with the coffeemaker. A significant amount of coffee grounds get thru the filter and into the coffee, making the last few sips quite unpleasant. I am going to experiment with using a paper or cotton filter, to see if that works better, but the permanent filter alone is not good.
