This is true. When we turned it on we thought something was wrong and we were just hearing an electrical hum but the disposer wasn't actually kicking in. Wrong. It was on. It IS that quiet. Everything else--the fact that it works really well and was easy to install, is gravy. The thing is quiet. My husband and I were amazed.

Badger 5 replaced two other brand disposals which were underpowered and didn't last long. The Badger 5 has lasted years, never clogs, and runs really cool. Whereas the previous ones overheated under a large load.

Insinkerator makes an add-on optional 3 way flexible output tube which connects over to the trap, which solves most installation problems, fits most of their models including this one, see it online for about $5 various places.

We just had our new disposal installed and we are absolutely amazed at how quiet and smooth it is. We had it installed with a 604 stainless steel Blanco sink and quartz counter tops. The 604 stainless sink is much heavier and thicker than our previous sink and the quartz tops are also much heavier than our previous laminate tops so this may help some as well to dampen the sound but I think most of the credit has to go to Insinkerator. What ever they did to make this quiet definitely paid off. No more rattling and shaking of the counter and sink. Don't even consider a lesser model. We paid $249.95 through Amazon plus $17.29 shipping.

I have had this disposal for six months and it lives up to it advertisements. It is quiet and efficient. We have a small household and this disposal has preformed well. I recommend it to anyone wanting a small family disposal.

I'm impressed at the obvious build quality of the cover control model. It replaced an 18 year old Insinkerator cover control model that suddenly wouldn't turn off and became a shock hazard. This Evolution model snapped right into the old mount (real time-saver) and took about 2 hours to complete including minor plumbing changes. This is my 5th disposal install over the years and was the simplest. It's expensive, but cheaper at Amazon.com than some other online retailers I looked at.

and when I first moved in I thought that it was very quiet and in spite of the fact that my very first disposal over 46 years ago was an InSinkErator that I did not like, I felt this was great. But then the reason I am here is because it looks like we may have to replace it before too much longer. I put apples in it every night and it can't even grind up an apple for me. It is at a point where it will work one day and not the next. I am going to go for a generic brand next time. Brand name things are not what they used to be when my husband and I were first married 47 years ago. My washer from this new move a little over 2 years ago went out tonight as well.

My wife saw one of these at a friend's house and wanted one immediately. There's not much to say about it except that is does everything it says it does very well.

You can use it to cram food into the disposal, so you don't have to get your hands dirty.

You can use it as a stopper to replace the one that came with the sink, you know, the one that lets the water drain out slowly. This one actually keeps the water in the sink as long as you want.

Finally, you can insert it halfway into the drain, where it will let water out, but keep cutlery where it belongs.

A great little gizmo.

I purchase this to match a Kohler sink an the finish matches excactly. The quality of this product as compared to others I looked at in my local big box home stores is much better. Others were plastic or a much lighter metal. This is a heavy duty flange with a great finish and an excellent compliment to a kohler sink.

Installed easily. Very quiet when running. Seems quite powerful. Constructed mostly of stainless steel and fiberglass reinforced plastic, so I don't expect corrosion of any kind to be a problem. Light weight adds to ease of installation. I expect a long life, and it seems to be a very good value for the money.
