This stainless percolator is nicely finished and well designed. It is easy to clean and perks a cup of coffee like that rich black brew my parents made. The stainless steel is less fragile than the aluminum models, does not require "seasoning" as they did, does not contaminate the coffee, and can be thoroughly cleaned without losing the "seasoning."

Faberware could work on quality control a bit. The one I got has an ever-so-slightly crooked plastic dome, and I was mildly alarmed when washing it out for the second time, I found a quantity of "goop" under the top rim of the pot. I believe the substance to be the polishing compound typically used in mirror finishing. Though I have suffered no ill effects, this stuff should have been removed at the factory. If you buy one, scrub it out completely before use.

Overall, for old duffers like me, who want to again enjoy that familiar brewed flavor, this is a great coffee pot. It is fairly priced and I recommend it. And who knows, maybe we can show some of those who've never had REAL coffee why we aren't that impressed with Starbucks!

After breaking several glass carafes on drip coffee pots I decided to get back to the basics of coffee making. I chose the Farberware FCP280 8-cup percolator to experiment with. What a joy! Good coffee and quickly made. Easy to clean up and no glass to break. The only thing I had forgotten about percolators is they are quite a bit noisier than the drip ones. It sounds like the space shuttle going off but brews quickly so the noise is short-lived. My experiment worked for me!!

I bought this coffee maker about 8 months ago and have used it almost every day since. It makes consistently excellent coffee, hotter and MUCH fresher tasting than any automatic drip I've ever had. It is no harder than an automatic drip maker to clean and you don't have to deal with soggy filters. In fact, usually I make coffee in the morning and wash the percolator at night and actually ENJOY cleaning the percolator because it's all stainless steel and easily gets cleaner than the plastic parts of an auto-drip. Part of it is because you can actually hand wash every surface the water and coffee will touch, unlike the plastic reservoirs you dump water into on an auto-drip. I actually get cravings for coffee at night while I'm cleaning it and look forward to the morning when I can brew another pot. When I periodically clean it with Dip It cleaner for percolators, it's like having a brand new percolator. To sum up: FRESH, delicious coffee!

Just as I said in the title, this thing does what it is supposed to do,, except really slow. Not a problem if you plan for it. Use course ground coffee, fill the bucket with water, turn it on - and wait for 2hrs. Then you have 42 cups of jo that stays hot for a long time.

I bought the 8 cup about 6 months ago. The coffe was good and I'll not go back to drip. The problem was I dropped it and didn't realize the plastic cracked. I kept rinsing it out after each use( I never submerged it)and about a week later it quit. I took it apart and found water had gotten into it. I dryed and cleaned it, fixed the crack, but it still won't heat up. I can't send it in for warranty because I dropped it. I thought it should have held up better for $50.00.I will buy a different brand.

Been looking for "old fashioned" coffee percolator for long time. This is great with exception of plastic dome. Fortunately, I purchased replacement "glass" domes and they work beautifully with this pot. Best coffee I've made and had to enjoy in years.

I love it. It reminds me of sitting in Spain. I have had several high priced espresso machines-two I gave away, one I threw away (coffee/espresso machine-it sounded too good to be true. . .and it was) and one I save for company. This gives you that strong, strong espresso that is between liquid and solid-heaven! A little frothed milk and it is a dream.

I don't think you can get a better cup. In the first week, it paid for itself in the money I was spending in buying mochas out. Love having a cup in the morning and one at night. . .decadent? yep.

Soo easy to use. I love frothing the milk while the espresso brews and mixing. Some have said nuke it; but, as I grow older, I neither like anything too hot or too cold. I think the temperature is perfect with frothed milk right from the fridge, a pinch of chocolate and a little nutmeg. Add the espresso and makes two very large mochas.

I can't wait for morning to have another.

I would like to echo the sentiments of the other reviewers. This pot is excellent, except for the plastic top. The lid is extremely tight and requires using the platic handle to remove it. Problem is, it just isn't sturdy enough. Very disappointing. After reading the other reviews, I've decided not to order a replacement part and chalk this up as a bad purchase.
