I used to have a small. inexpensive model that shot popcorn through a smaller channel that left everything in the bowl. All the reviewers were correct about this one shooting popcorn everywhere due to the force of the popping and the width of the spout. But there isn't really a decent alternative, so just use a large bowl, put it on the kitchen counter and aim it toward the wall, guide it by keeping something at the sides or putting a kitchen towel over it while it is operating, and don't overfill the chamber.

This was for my husband. He loves popcorn and the whirly pop is the only thing he likes to pop it in. Well while we were on vacation the older kids broke his. We sure don't know how because we have had it for ever and never any problem with it. Anyway we ordered one and it came in damaged. You could tell it was damaged in shipping. I got on line and they sent me out another one and we used the label to ship the damaged one back for free. Kodos to Amazon! Well my husband got his whirly pop a day later. They upgraded the shipping for free. Needless to say my husband is very happy with his whirly popper.

I bought mine at WalMart, and have tried it with and without oil. Very few kernels actually pop under any circumstances. I can only leave it in my medium size microwave for about 35 seconds. Any longer and it will begin to burn, and I mean a black, foul smelling sort of burn! The original product that Orville Redenbacher lent his name to must have been a better quality product. It has obviously been cheapened in some way, because there is no way Orville Redenbacher would stand for having his name on this thing.

Good air popper. Great for folks on a diet. No problem that it comes without a switch as it is easy to unplug. I would buy this again.

This is a great popcorn maker. As some of the other reviews stated, I lifted the metal spoke at the bottom up a little so it did not scrape the teflon but after that, this is a perfect little machine that makes delicious popcorn.

I have a Whirley Pop and love it so much I bought this one for my sister. I believe this to be the best popcorn popper on the market. I have never burnt a kernel :)

I've been on a mission for the past 6 months to get off of my microwave popcorn in a bag addiction. Goodness only knows what kind of chemicals are in there. I bought an air popper, but the popcorn tastes like it's made out of styrofoam in those things. Not good. I tried the plain bag trip, but I only managed to scorch the bag and the kernels never all popped.

Now, a confession. I'm a bit of a impulse shopper. If I see something that I decide I want, I buy it. So, you mix in my failed popcorn and me being bored one night on Amazon and... I bought some weird thing to pop popcorn in the mircowave. It came in the mail, Tom raised his eyebrow at me and shrugged.

I washed it and let it sit for a few days because I just knew this thing wasn't going to work. I was wrong.

This thing ROCKS. I've made popcorn in it several times. I prefer my popcorn plain, so I can then add spray butter and my own seasonings. I don't like a lot of butter. ANYWAY... it leaves very few kernels unpopped and the popcorn is fresh. I have NO idea why this thing works. I don't want to know. It just does.

If you are a popcorn person that wants to get rid of the expensive chemical filled nuke bags, buy this. Trust me.

The only bad thing I've found is that the bowl is REALLY hot when it comes out. It says you can serve it in there, but I wouldn't risk the burns. I transfer it to a big bowl. Note: It can pop up to 1/3 of a cup of corn at a time.

IF YOU ARE TIRED OF MESSING AROUND WITH A SMALL POPCORN POPPER THE WESTBEND CRAZY 8 IS WHAT YOU NEED. ALMOST EVERY KERNAL POPS, USES VERY LITTLE OIL, AND MAKES 8 QUARTS OF POPCORN. MY FAMILY OF 5 CAN EAT THIS AT ONE SETTING. WE USE TO HAVE TO MAKE TWO BATCHES, BUT NOW ONE IS PLENTY. THIS IS OUR 2ND POPPER, LASTS A COUPLE OF YEARS. WE USE IT ALMOST NIGHTLY.

Can only make a very small amount of popcorn at a time. If you follow the directions on the popper in regards to amount of kernals of popcorn to make at one time, the popper jams and you have to dig the popped popcorn out. Also, you are then left with many unpopped kernals.

We love popcorn. We wanted the best popcorn popper available. So first we bought the Cuisinart for a lot of money and it turned out to be a piece of garbage that broke in two days. The Stir-Crazy machine makes perfect popcorn. We've been using every day for months now with no problems at all. I hope it lasts for years. When it eventually breaks I'll order a new one right away...
